Upper Adur Walk (PDF, Walk and Cycle)
- 5.5 miles, 8.9k (2 hours) circular walk
- Starts near The Bull, Henfield – the Pizza pub, with The Royal Oak at Wineham also on route.
- parts of the walk are liable to flooding after winter rains, so go well
shod. - gentle walking
The quiet upper reaches of the River Adur provide the focus for this peaceful riverside walk from Mock Bridge to Wineham, returning along the disused back drive to Shermanbury Place.
The unspoilt, black and white timbered, 14th century The Royal Oak, offers a half way stop.
The leaflet mentions Leonardslee Gardens as a nearby attraction. These did shut for a while and are now re-open under new owners and well worth a visit.
Very nice walk – with lots of different terrain! 2 hours is quite ambitious though if you are walking at a leisurely pace! took us more like 2.5 – 3 hours!
